Welcome to the website of the South Bay Black Nurses Association, Inc. San Jose

It is a pleasure to welcome you to our site and we are delighted that you chose to visit us. The South Bay Black Nurses Association, Inc of San Jose aka SBBNA is a Professional Non-Profit Group dedicated to assisting African Americans and all people of color in accessing healthcare equal to that of other in American; and increasing their presence in the nursing profession.

The SBBNA membership is comprised of Registered Nurses (RNS), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), RN and LVN students, and community volunteers. We are committed to enhancing the health and quality of life of the citizen of the Greater Bay Area especially those of African heritage and other racial/ethnic minorities by providing education, through community events such as health fairs and workshops, and fund raising activities to provide scholarships for deserving students entering the nursing profession.

As in the past, we will be sponsoring several health education classes and workshops during 2009, such as the April 25 Financial Planning Workshop. Our yearly fund-raising activities culminate with a Dinner /Dance in November each year and all funds are dedicated to providing scholarships to deserving African-American or other minority students enrolled in a undergraduate, graduate or paraprofessional school. Please check the calendar or contact us for information on these and other activities planned during the year.
We have an active mentoring program in conjunction with the faculty of the Schools of Nursing and we have sponsored students enrolled in Nursing Programs at:

San Francisco State University
University of California SF
University of San Francisco
De Anza College
California State University, Hayward
Evergreen Valley College
East Bay Chabot College
Gavilan College

We invite all interested RNs, LVNs, Nursing students and Community Volunteers to attend our monthly meetings. We meet the second Friday of the month at Regional Medical Center in San Jose, California from 7:00 PM -8:30 PM (there are no regular meetings in July or August).
